Let's first look at the definition of an explosion and the three conditions for an explosion. An explosion refers to the process in which energy transforms from one form to another or multiple forms in a short time and small space, exhibiting strong mechanical effects. This is also an extremely rapid release of physical or chemical energy. In this process, the substances in the space release the energy they contain at a very fast speed, transforming it into mechanical work, light, heat, and other forms of energy. Therefore, once out of control, an explosion accident can cause tremendous destruction. The fundamental reason for the destructive effect of an explosion is the presence of high-pressure gas or high-temperature and high-pressure gas generated at the moment of the explosion in the explosion system.
An important characteristic of an explosion is the sudden change in pressure between the explosion system and the surrounding medium, which is the direct cause of explosion damage. When combustible gas reaches a certain concentration in the air, it will explode upon encountering an open flame.
In daily industrial production, there are generally three conditions for an explosion: 1. Combustible gas reaches a certain concentration. 2. Fire; 3. Air encounters.
Therefore, in daily industrial production, explosion prevention mainly considers the following aspects: 1. Reducing the concentration of combustible materials: keeping the concentration of explosive materials below the explosion limit, such as ventilation to prevent gas explosions and dust removal to prevent flour explosions. 2. Isolating the fire source: preventing sparks from being generated, such as using arc extinguishing switches, explosion-proof motors, anti-static clothing, installing fire covers, and controlling fire sources. 3. Blocking air: such as adding inert protective gases.
If we start from the three necessary conditions for an explosion and limit one of the conditions, the explosion will be restricted. The explosion-proof cabinet isolates the fire source and blocks air. First, the explosion-proof cabinet classifies all hazardous chemicals by different colors. There are four colors of explosion-proof cabinets: yellow, red, blue, and white. The chemicals stored in each color are different. Yellow indicates flammable liquids, red indicates flammable liquids, blue indicates weakly corrosive liquids, and white indicates strongly corrosive liquids. In this way, using explosion-proof cabinets of different colors can effectively identify, organize, and isolate hazardous liquids, preventing various chemicals from mixing and eliminating fire hazards.
In addition, regarding materials and safety in use, the explosion-proof cabinet adopts a double-layer structure, made of 1.2mm high-quality cold-rolled steel plate, phosphated, epoxy resin coated, and high-temperature cured. The bottom is designed with a leak-proof threshold to retain liquids for external matching. The bottom of the cabinet is equipped with a 50mm high leak-proof liquid box to prevent accidental liquid overflow. The laminated board uses galvanized laminated board, with surface phosphating treatment, epoxy resin coating, high-temperature curing, and a unique safety angle design. The height of the laminated board can be adjusted according to a thickness of 2mm and a spacing of 60mm, making it very flexible and convenient. Silicate has heat insulation, sound insulation, and explosion-proof functions, making it an explosion-proof component of the explosion-proof cabinet. According to the newly released "Management Measures for Explosive Hazardous Chemicals (National Standard)", the GA type three-point linkage cabinet lock is equipped with two keys, and the connection between the cabinet door and the cabinet body is a long hinge that can open 180 degrees, making operation very convenient and safe. It effectively isolates external air and fire sources, achieving explosion-proof effects.
